Emet AI Video Sorter -

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-07-01

Emet AI Video Sorter is a browser extension that organizes the new uploads from your YouTube subscriptions into categories. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the extension does and does not do with your information.

The short version: everything runs on your own computer. EMET AI does not operate any server for this extension, does not receive any of your data, and does not track you. The only time any information leaves your computer is if you choose to turn on the optional AI features by selecting an AI provider and entering your own API key - and then only the minimum needed text goes directly to the provider you chose (Anthropic, Google, or OpenAI).

Personal information we collect:

When you visit the Emet AI Video Sorter - Privacy Policy, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the installed cookies on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.” Moreover, we might collect the personal data you provide to us (including but not limited to Name, Surname, Address, payment information, etc.) during registration to be able to fulfill the agreement.

What the extension reads

When you open your YouTube subscriptions page, the extension reads, from the page you are already signed in to:

- Your list of subscribed channels (channel names and links).

- Each channel's notification ("bell") setting, so it can default to showing only your "All notifications" channels.

To show you new videos, it then reads each channel's public uploads feed (YouTube's public RSS feed for that channel) to get recent video titles, links, thumbnails, and publish times.

What is stored, and where

All of this is saved only in your browser's local extension storage on your own device (storage.local). This includes:

- Your subscription list, channel IDs, and bell settings.

- The category assigned to each channel (whether you set it by hand or it was sorted automatically).

- Cached video information for the dashboard.

- Your settings, including your chosen AI provider and its API key (if you choose to enter one).

This data is not sent to EMET AI or to any server we control. We have no servers for this extension and no way to see your data. If you uninstall the extension, this stored data is removed by your browser.

What is sent outside your computer

If you do not enter an API key, nothing is ever transmitted off your device for AI purposes. Manual sorting and plain text search work entirely offline within your browser.

If you choose a provider and enter your own API key and use the optional AI features (automatic channel sorting and "AI search"), the extension sends, only for those requests, directly to the AI provider you selected:

- Channel names (for automatic sorting), and/or

- Video titles and channel names (for AI search), and

- Your API key, which the provider uses to authenticate and bill the request.

You choose the provider in Settings. Depending on your choice, these requests go directly from your browser to exactly one of:

- Anthropic (Claude) - https://api.anthropic.com

- Google (Gemini) - https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com

- OpenAI (GPT) - https://api.openai.com

Only the provider you selected receives anything, and only when you use the AI features. These requests never pass through any EMET AI server. Each provider's handling of the data is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms. Your API key is stored locally and is only ever sent to the provider you chose.

What we do NOT collect

- No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking.

- No advertising or advertising identifiers.

- No selling or sharing of any data.

- No accounts, and no data sent to EMET AI.

Third parties

- YouTube / Google - the extension reads pages and public feeds from your own signed-in YouTube session. It does not send your data to YouTube beyond the normal page requests your browser already makes.

- Your chosen AI provider - only as described above, only if you enable the optional AI features with your own API key, and only the one provider you selected: Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), or OpenAI (GPT).

Your choices and control

- The AI features are optional. Leave the API key blank to keep everything on your device.

- You can remove your API key at any time in the extension's Settings.

- You can clear all stored data by removing the extension, or via your browser's extension storage controls.

Permissions, briefly

- Access to youtube.com - to read your subscriptions and the public video feeds.

- Access to api.anthropic.com - used only when you enable the AI features with Claude.

- Access to Google's or OpenAI's AI site (generativelanguage.googleapis.com or api.openai.com) - requested only if and when you switch to that provider and save a key. A Claude-only or manual user is never asked for it.

- Local storage - to remember your channels, categories, and settings on your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will ship with a new version of the extension and a new effective date above.
